When you are speaking to someone, speak slowly and clearly so they can understand what you are saying. When you maintain eye contact with the other person you are focused on them and they are focused on you. Focus and don't mumble and you will get the attention of the other person. Get to the point and don't keep talking just to talk. After you make your point, stop and wait for a response.
