Families come in different sizes and appearances. We are living in a world where the intact family of birth parents and their children is no longer the family structure most people live in. Children must learn to adjust to situations that are not perfect families. Children not only look to their birth parents for support but oftentimes stepparents and other relatives including sisters, brothers, and grandparents as well as aunts, uncles, and cousins. These people are all part of families. The important thing is that you identify the good and helpful people in your family and learn from them and be supportive to them.
